Live feed and Woodshop News

Woodshop News, a national trade magazine called with some interest in my live video feed a couple months ago. Their digital version of their magazine is just out and the story was posted on their website. It's a short but to the point article about the camera system and how it is used for both marketing and with customer relations.

August 3, 2009

Today we will be working on the inlays for the trays on the wall/canopy. I will also start the chalkboard murphy bed.

We will be switching our feed to twitter and facebook in the next few week. This feed from blogger will be elimitated. We are doing this to align the information from our site and the feeds into one, accurate source. Sorry of the inconvenece.

Today I'll be making sure Johnson's 4 post bed is ready for the finish shop tomorrow. I also have a few smaller pieces to build: a replacement piece for McDermont and Burford.

If I have time I'll start working on Nash's black lacquer euro style murphy bed.

Today I am building a boat bed. I already have the headboard, siderails, and drawers built. I need to work on the bow and some trim work on the other pieces. It is a slight modification in my orginal design and is very fun to build.

Off camera we have a lot going. We have a train bed, a locker murphy bed, and a Ross murphy bed all ready to ship. We should get these out in the next couple days.

Just finish up a busy day. Yesterday we sent about 3 project to the Designer House in Little Rock. I spent all day in Hot Springs installing a built-in unit.

Today is only different in that we are busy here in the shop. I should be working on making sure McDermott's bed is ready to ship. We have two murphy beds that we've been holding shipping today. I'll be building parts to Gianni's platform bed. I'll have Paul and Donald doing the prep work on Farrara's three beds.

Febuary 11, 2009

Today we have a lot of different projects going at once. We just put the finish on Lawton's Special Edition baseball bed. We will take it and get the scoreboard cut out with a CNC router. This be should be ready to go in about a week.

We also just finished Scallion’s full size waterbed.

Good news for LaCarrubba. The upholster has the material and covering the sofa now. I’ll prep their bed today and get ready to apply the finish. Hopefully it will be ready in about a week. Unser’s 2 Murphy beds are the same color so maybe we can get them finished together.

Today I’ll start on Burford’s pre-cut Murphy bed and chest.

Yesterday we applied the finish for Palmer (May). We also built and finished Downs' waterbed headboard and pedestal.

Today we'll be putting the final touches on Palmer (May). We should have the color (pink) for a custom waterbed for Scallion. In the build catagory we'll be building a horizontal queen murphy bed for Pridgeon.

Today we'll be working on Palmer's corner entertainment center. We also changed the color of one of our showroom displays, so we'll be getting that back together. We have LaCarrubba's bed just about ready to finish. We may put the finish off until we get a little closer on having the Sofa back.

Yesterday was busy. We got murphy beds ready to go and built a new Basket Ball Bed. This Basket ball bed is awsome.

Today I'll be working just on Carrubba's murhy bed. I have the sofa built and all the parts for the center section cut out. I should finish up on the building of murphy bed with the inset bookcases. Hopefully I'll make lots of progress on the other bookcases.

On Mondays the shop is all mine. All the shop workers are off. Today I'll be getting some samples for Chandlers and prepping Dohanian for the finish shop tomorrow.

Today we'll be cutting the parts for Dohanian and LaCarrubba. LaCarrubba will be a maple euro bed that folds over the couch that I just built. It will also have sliding bookcases.

Dohanian is a quarter sawn oak euro style. It will also be similar to the one I just built. It will have only one bookcase and it 's door will go all the way to the desk.

Today I will be working on a couple murphy beds for our Quick Ship Plan.

We have now added a Showroom cam to our live video feed. We put this camera in our showroom area for when there is no activity in the shop, which is common on Saturdays. This will also be helpful to us when we're all needed in the shop and have to abandoned the showroom. We can keep an eye on who comes in.

For now the camera will be on the same feed, which means that you'll only see one image at a time and will still be controlled by my "tool belt remote". In the near future I plan on have a Showroom feed of it's own. I'll then be able to run them side-by-side so our customers can see what's going on in the shop and showroom. I will also have picture-in-a-picture capabilities. Stay tuned for more updates.
